Ahh, the brilliance of Image mounting software.
So, Ive just finished reading the lost symbol!, DB is officially my fav author! his really good, the twist that im guessing all along turn out to be a twist itself! respect! Only thing is towards the last 2 chapters of the book, it start getting abstract and im actually quite lost myself. nevertheless, its one hell of great book!
Ive written a short review on my Facebook's book application. Anyway, i might get a non-fic book next. I'm eyeing on Malcolm Gladwell's What the dog saw. I reckon its another interesting book to read.
ok, my 10mins is up. Back to more Shows.
oh, and and and TOP GEAR's new season is coming SOON!
ive always love those three bastard brits. Haha no offence tho!
Well hello world. It’s been awhile since I step foot on this humble cyber space of mine. Today is a good day, hence my sudden inspiration to blog. I’m not slacking whatsoever. maybe a little, but today, the humming sound of the operating machine is so soothing, even the buzzing sound of the alarm or the sound of IC chips being attached to the PC board at a rate of 7 second each is so illogically calming. And, in case you are wondering, Yes, I’m blogging (drafting) at work.
Despite the chaos outside my window, everything seems to go so slow in here. I’m at peace with myself for no reason, maybe it’s also the fact that I’ve just completed a very tedious power point presentation slides and my supervisors are very pleased with me. Or maybe because I’m thinking of a certain someone ;), or maybe I’m just too free and my supervisors are busy with their work. (which is not the case, because I’ve just notice one of them browsing the internet a sec ago using someone’s account I presume) Hehs! So tempted to open my Dan Brown and continue flipping through the chapters. So, I have moved to the SMT department 2 weeks ago, it’s actually been better than I expected. SMT is a abbreviation for Surface Mounting Technology, basically this is where rows and rows of “IC chip attaching” machine operates. I did not do any hands-on work yet, mostly sitting around in the office =)
Anyway, I’m nicknamed Somchai and power point man by one of my associates, Somchai is a very common name in Thailand (Think Peter or John in our western counterparts) and apparently it is also the name of a famous singer, that is why I occasionally get some singing from them wherever they sees me, which in the long run can be quite annoying. And the later because I’m responsible to make slides for every operation/process for the entire SMT line. I’ve been making power point slides since the first day I’m in this department. Sometimes I wonder whether I’m here for industrial training or my sole purpose here is to make power point slides, but I’m not frustrated or anything because I reckon it is a rather leisurely job, and what’s more, there’s a plus to all of this, the part where I get to bring my laptop to work every day. Only thing is I do not have the World Wide Web to access too. I’m still in the midst of summoning enough courage to actually talk to my senior manager or maybe my CPC director to give me internet access. In which I must admit that, by assessing the current circumstances, chances looks pretty low because even high ranking engineers has no access to the net.
It’s been like 7 weeks I’ve been away from my homeland. Miss my place a lot and of course the food back home especially mamaks. Occasionally, my mind wonders off and the frequent mamak trips pops out. How I wish I am able to conjure a plate of nasi goreng paprik or mee goreng mamak out of thin air. But, I’ve got to give credits to the Thais too, the food here is awesomely good and insanely cheap. My average meal spending for a day is around RM10. One unique culture here is that Thais love their food with extra seasoning. Every meal needs to be accompanied with at least something additional, be it fish sauce, dry chilly, pepper or any other extras. For me, I like it best with dry chili flakes. I have mastered the art of adding chili during my stay here, how would adding chilly be an art you might ask, well, adding the precise amount require skillful hands! ;p being the very particular me, I want my food to be just that, with a vague hint of spiciness. Spicy, yet not too spicy!
Working days are quite fun, meeting new people, guessing the still unfamiliar foreign language, the occasional hand gesture conversation and sometimes being in the center of attention Haha~. Truthfully, it’s a great feeling =p. I’ve been listening to tons of “learn Thai podcast” over the weeks here; I am able to grasp some very basic Thai language. Learning a new language is a perk, and I definitely hope I don’t leave it behind like how I forgotten my Japanese. Thai people are extremely friendly. Within weeks of my stay here I’ve befriended more people than a whole year living back in Malaysia. This is one hell of a achievement for someone so anti-social like me! One thing I’m sure is that not all of these friendships will last, I sure hope among all these friends I made, I’ll make some my closest. I’m very delighted because I know of one that is and will be ;) Sure hope everything turn out to be a fruitful one.
Weekends here are utilized by exploring the country’s capital. It’s really blissful that Saturdays and Sundays are not working days, I hope I’ll get use to this when I’m back in Malaysia because weekends are usually working days in the homeland. Anyway, Have been visiting many place of interest among those includes the famous tourist attraction- Chatuchak Market, the Pavilion equivalent of Bangkok city – Siam Paragon, and much more. Transportation is a foremost dilemma during the weekends. Dilemma not because of the inconveniency of not having a means of transportation but because it’s far too time consuming. A trip to the heart of Thailand from my place devour close to 2 hours. Last weekend, my former department organized a trip to a nearby province – Suphanburi. Nothing out of the ordinary I would say, visited this supposedly famous underwater world, a 100 year old market, a “dragon” temple and a lookout tower. The lookout tower was disappointing though, expecting to see a spectacular night view but to no prevail. The scenery around the tower is pretty dull I would say. I reckon the main highlight of the trip is dinner. Food is pretty appealing, and suffice to say, I gobble up 3 full bowls of rice.
It’s been a rewarding journey so far, at least to me. Its funny how time past, it creeps ever so slowly when you do not need them but leaps at light speed when you require them. It’s been 7 weeks so far. In less than a month I’ll be back to the place I call home for the last 20 years, which I’m anticipating with mixed feelings. Many new experiences garnered, many new friends made likewise, I’m still looking forward to everyday excitedly. Especially the weekends!
..And whoa I’ve just crafted a super lengthy post. So untypical of me. But that sure illustrate the free time I Have during work! Mind you, this is not a everyday incentive, sometimes there is so much to do I hardly got time.
OK, I’m going to discreetly watch AC360 and Larry King for the rest of the afternoon, and hopefully finish of the rest of the 3 days worth of podcasts that I’ve missed when my internet is down.
Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, We see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, Are the ones who do.
today, we followed the audit team to visit a supplier's company.
i did not expect to spend the whole day in the supplier's factory which we did.
well, the journey took us around 50mins to Bangpakong, i slept the entire journey. Haha thats working =p
Delta is a huge company, they actually send audit team to check whether the suppliers meet their expectation. meeting 1 whole day. super tiring. but of course we just sit around and show our pretty faces only la =p
the highlight of the day was free lunch from the supplier. hehs
we got back to the office 1 hr after work time.
Hehe so considered OT i suppose. =p
reached home quite late, the food court in tesco is already cleaning up,
so we end up having japanese for dinner.
